Mona Abter

Mona is originally from Germany but lives in Spain for many years now and spends the winter in India. She is trilingual in English, German and Spanish. She’s an experienced and certified Yoga teacher in Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow and Yin Yoga. Additional she is a qualified holisitc massage therapist and does bodywork for more than 20 years. At her Yoga Centre at Agonda beach in Goa, India, she has been offering open yoga classes, workshops and training for the last 8 years.

In Europe and Asia she holds retreats, workshops and provides yoga training and immersion. For the past 15 years she has intensively practiced Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow and Yin Yoga and has extended her experience in Anusara, Iyengar, Acro and Hormone yoga through exposure to different mentors in Germany, Spain and India. She combines the dynamic, sweeping stye of Vinyasa Flow yoga with the distinct, slow, and meditative elements of Yin yoga while placing particular attention to both breath and flow of life energy.

“Yang is about doing, yin is about letting go, it’s all about balance”.

To Mona, yoga means to be right here, right now; to surrender to the flow of life, to trust it; to accept the challenges life is offering and take them as a great gift. Yoga is far more than the practice of asanas. Rather, it is a philosphy of life, which has brought lots of joy, love and peace into hers. She seeks to share this experience with her students. Deep relaxation from the very first moment. Pure yoga geared to the requirements of each student free from the contraints of style or judgements. This is a key characteristic of Mona’s practice and teachings, which she conveys with lots of heart, passion and empathy.

Mona is a registered Yoga Alliance Teacher E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) with more than 4000 hours of teaching experience.

Gunnar Lips

Gunnar is originally from Germany but now lives in Spain and India. He is a former athletics professional and has worked as a sports coach. He has also trained as a sports massage therapist and is trained in energetic massage techniques. Years of professional sea diving gave him an insight into a variety of different breathing techniques and the application thereof. During a visit to India 10 years ago, he had his first encounter with yoga. His experience from both his sports and professional background made him realise the holistic perfection of yoga. Ever since, he has been practicing yoga regularly.

Gunnar has undertaken training in Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow and Yin. He continues to broaden his capacity in Meditation and Pranayama. He incorporates his many decades of sports coach experience in his style of conveying yoga to his students. Gunnar focuses on teaching the proper way of breathing. And in Gunnar’s classes there is always room for a dash of humour. Gunnar is a registered Yoga AllianceTeacher E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher).

Mona and Gunnar recongnise in each person their uniqueness and adapt yoga to them individually. Variations and modifications of yoga practice are therefore a given and encouraged. Rigid principles and dogmas are not encouraged. “What’s good for me is not necessarily good for you”. Our teaching style is characterised by passion, enthusiasm and clarity. While remaining rooted in everyday existence we’ve gradually aligned our lives according to the principles of yoga and walked the path of yoga. Extensive excursions in India and visits in other parts of Asia, intensive training in yoga, massage therapy and Ayuveda provided the basis for us so we can share this path with you heart to heart. We look forward to spending quality time with you.

About The Course

This Yin yoga training program is suitable for all dedicated yoga practitioners and yoga teachers of all levels and styles who would like to deepen their practice and understanding of yoga, their own body, and are curious and open to exploring and learning a complementary practice to all dynamic yoga styles and sports activities.

Would you like to get to know effective self-help tools to release unpleasant tensions and to relieve existing pain, e.g. in the back? Additional to increase the mobility of your joints, improve your posture and stability and stimulate the flow of energy in your body, thus increasing your general well-being?

In this training you will learn two very effective techniques (Yin Yoga and Myofascia Release) that work specifically on your connective tissue, the so-called fascia, and thus release tension and agglutination in the myofascial tissue, so that pain can be relieved or even disappear completely, and the healing process is actively supported and accelerated.

MyoYin is the combination of Myofascia Release (MFR) and Yin Yoga. Myo stands for Myofascial release, which can be translated as fascia relaxation or loosening. Yin stands for Yin Yoga, where we hold the Yoga postures in a passive way over a longer time (3-5min) mainly sitting or lying on the floor. It is a deeply opening, yet gentle and meditative yoga practice. With both methods we specifically stimulate our fascia and connective tissue. With the combination of Myofascia Release & Yin Yoga you get a comprehensive and effective method in your hands, with which you actively can do something against your pain and for your well-being and recovery.

This teacher training enables you to dive deeper into your Yin qualities like stillness, receptivity, openness, surrendering, relaxation, acceptance, and find balance in a mainly Yang style world. Yin yoga helps you to find a meditative state, stillness, peacefulness, and balance and often promotes healing inside yourself. The training will amplify both your knowledge about and your practice of yoga, supplementing the unfolding of your spiritual path. The training is a combination of both theory and practice.

You will be nourished by two daily yoga practices, meditations, pranayama, and the amazing energy of the unspoiled nature and surroundings. Private chefs will prepare three super healthy meals a day – delicious vegetarian, Mediterranean, and Asian-influenced meals. You will be guided by professional and skillful yoga teachers, who love to share their knowledge and passion for yoga with you. After the week you will leave feeling recharged, empowered, balanced, and confident in your teaching.

“Excellent balance of theory and practice, very knowledgeable teachers. Mona approaches Yin Yoga from many different angles when teaching and knows the science behind it. I learned so much like all about anatomy. The training was really deepening my understanding not only about the physical side also about the mental, emotional and philosophical side of Yin Yoga. Thank you so much” – Mirella K, Finnland

“The intense morning classes were just magical and the themes very interesting. Stunning villa and very nice food. I learned a lot about Yin Yoga, the Meridians and Fascia. I will try to bring more of this calming and healing Yin energy into my daily life. I love the calm and soft way Mona teaches the classes. Great explanations and sharing personal experiences too.” – Marine, France

With Yin Yoga I discovered a powerful, tool for finding stillness, diving into my body, nourishing myself and exploring my emotions. I really enjoyed the Yoga classes which were very inspiring with great explanation. Mona always gave space for questions and lot´s of space to explore.” – Mascha, Portugal

“The training was very diverse, good balance in between theory and practice. I have learned to feel into my body and to let go. I also learned a lot about fascia and meridians. Such an exciting topic, which I would now like to deepen further. Mona has a very wonderful way of communicating things. With a lot of passion and love she managed to bring everything closer to me as a total beginner in Yin Yoga. I was able to absorb and embody everything. It was such a wonderful experience with you. Thank you.” – Nadine S, Germany

“Nice balance of practice and theory. Now I have a good understanding of the mechanisms and philosophy on which Yin Yoga is based and will apply the new knowledge into my own practice. I liked the calm and respectful way of teaching, and Mona´s strong competence and profound knowledge.” – Sonja S, Switzerland
