Mona Abter

Mona TT 5

Mona is originally from Germany but lives in Spain for many years now and spends the winter in India. She is trilingual in English, German and Spanish. She’s an experienced and certified Yoga teacher in Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow and Yin Yoga. Additional she is a qualified holisitc massage therapist and does bodywork for more than 20 years. At her Yoga Centre at Agonda beach in Goa, India, she has been offering open yoga classes, workshops and training for the last 8 years.

In Europe and Asia she holds retreats, workshops and provides yoga training and immersion. For the past 15 years she has intensively practiced Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow and Yin Yoga and has extended her experience in Anusara, Iyengar, Acro and Hormone yoga through exposure to different mentors in Germany, Spain and India. She combines the dynamic, sweeping stye of Vinyasa Flow yoga with the distinct, slow, and meditative elements of Yin yoga while placing particular attention to both breath and flow of life energy.

“Yang is about doing, yin is about letting go, it’s all about balance”.

To Mona, yoga means to be right here, right now; to surrender to the flow of life, to trust it; to accept the challenges life is offering and take them as a great gift. Yoga is far more than the practice of asanas. Rather, it is a philosphy of life, which has brought lots of joy, love and peace into hers. She seeks to share this experience with her students. Deep relaxation from the very first moment. Pure yoga geared to the requirements of each student free from the contraints of style or judgements. This is a key characteristic of Mona’s practice and teachings, which she conveys with lots of heart, passion and empathy.

Mona is a registered Yoga Alliance Teacher E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) with more than 4000 hours of teaching experience.

Gunnar Lips

Mona TT 6

Gunnar is originally from Germany but now lives in Spain and India. He is a former athletics professional and has worked as a sports coach. He has also trained as a sports massage therapist and is trained in energetic massage techniques. Years of professional sea diving gave him an insight into a variety of different breathing techniques and the application thereof. During a visit to India 10 years ago, he had his first encounter with yoga. His experience from both his sports and professional background made him realise the holistic perfection of yoga. Ever since, he has been practicing yoga regularly.

Gunnar has undertaken training in Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow and Yin. He continues to broaden his capacity in Meditation and Pranayama. He incorporates his many decades of sports coach experience in his style of conveying yoga to his students. Gunnar focuses on teaching the proper way of breathing. And in Gunnar’s classes there is always room for a dash of humour. Gunnar is a registered Yoga AllianceTeacher E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher).

Mona and Gunnar recongnise in each person their uniqueness and adapt yoga to them individually. Variations and modifications of yoga practice are therefore a given and encouraged. Rigid principles and dogmas are not encouraged. “What’s good for me is not necessarily good for you”. Our teaching style is characterised by passion, enthusiasm and clarity. While remaining rooted in everyday existence we’ve gradually aligned our lives according to the principles of yoga and walked the path of yoga. Extensive excursions in India and visits in other parts of Asia, intensive training in yoga, massage therapy and Ayuveda provided the basis for us so we can share this path with you heart to heart. We look forward to spending quality time with you.

 About the Course

Yin & Yang…it’s all about balance

This Yin & Yang Yoga Teacher Training is suitable for all dedicated yoga teachers, yoga practioners and bodyworkers of all levels and styles who would like to deepen their practice, teaching and understanding of yoga and their own body, to find a more balanced approach.

We invite you to cultivate balance, harmony and freedom in your life, on and off the yoga mat. Explore the unknown and allow magic to happen. Be open for change and give yourself permission to adapt the way you practice and teach to the individual. That may mean letting go of some oft he old rules and dogmas, to create space for a practice and teaching that focuses more on how it feels rather than how it looks.

By feeling and connecting to the physical, mental and emotional sensations, you can cultivate freedom and an embodied practice. Most of you are familiar with teaching alignment principles and technical aspects of asanas after many years of teaching experience.

With this continuing education training we aim to inspire you to develop a creative and individually adapted teaching style and practice. Integrate the qualities and aspects of the 5 elements as a guide, into your teaching and practice. Qualities such as stability and being rooted (earth), creativity and going with the flow (water), transformation and courage (fire) lightness and freedom (air) and infinity and consciousness (space).

The theme of the 5 elements from the Indian tradition and the thousands of years old healing system of Ayurveda form the philosophical background for the theory and practice in the training.

Addional to an intensive yoga practice and experience you will learn the connection between Yoga and Ayurveda. Giving you an overview and basic understanding what Ayurveda is and how you can benefit from the ayurvedic principles and integrate them into your daily life. Topics we adress are the Doshas (constituion types), Ayurvedic tastes and food concept, Ayurvedic herbal remedies and the background of an Ayurvedic Panchakarma cure. You will receive many tools and inspiration for a healthy living and wellbeing.

With a variety of tools like Asana practice, meditation, pranayama, dance and interactive group work, we will spend time observing ourselves and others to experience and learn where elements may be out of balance (deficient or excessive energy) or where they are in balance. We will explore how different Yin and Yang practices can be applied to bring the energy in the elements back into balance.

This week is characterised by lots of practice and interactive group work and invites you to come go deeper in to contact with your body and your whole self.

You will have time to observe your thoughts, to explore sensations in body and mind and to consciously perceive your emotions without judgement. Cultivate awareness and pay attention to how it feels in the body rather than thinking about how should it look. Find joy in your practice and teaching and have freedom in movement and stillness.

We combine stillness and movement, letting go and doing in a practice of Asanas, different types of Meditation, Pranayama and Mudras and learn how dynamic, challenging Yang practice can be practiced and taught together with slow and meditative Yin practice.

Some time in silence…

A calm and silent mind is the new luxury in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
This experience invites you to come in to contact with your heart, true being and the deeper aspects of life.

Silence gives you the opportunity to be in an introspective state, to go beyond the inner and outer distractions, and simply be in-tune with your heart and soul. When your inner and outer world are silent, you feel true peace and freedom.

You can tune out the world and enter into your own. Become silent and still. Be free.

Silence is a wonderful way to create space in your mind, to reduce stress and gain clarity. Take the energy you normally use for external communication and channel it inward. Silent does not always mean quiet! There are many sounds in nature which we will become aware of and listen to deeply, when we become silent.

Yin & Yang Yoga and the 5 Elements

The principle of Yin & Yang builds the foundation for balance in the universe, nature, life and for the human being. Health means balance between Yin & Yang. Health for the physical body, the mind and the soul..

Yang Yoga: flow with the breath through inspiring, creative and dynamic Vinyasa Flow Yoga sequences and explore this physical challenging, strengthening and detoxifying practice.
Enjoy the dance of breath and movement flow in harmony and create the so called ‘moving meditation’. Ujjayi breathing is the soul of this flowing motion.

Yin Yoga: the gentle path to inner balance. Surrender into the slow pace and deep opening of Yin Yoga which challenges you to be in the pure presence of awareness. It combines meditation and asana in to a very deep practice. Experience deep immersion and letting go by holding an asana for a number of minutes. Direct your attention inward, listen to your inner voice, observe your thoughts, and be present. Breath, meditation and asana merge into a deep, liberating, and wholesome yoga practice.

Explore the 5 life giving elements and connect to their transformative power. Equilibrium creates harmony in nature and in ourselves.
In this training we will connect to the qualities of the 5 elements, explore and balance them. This will guide us to more Stability, Flexibility, Awareness, Lightness, Freedom and Joy of Life.
